The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced it will convert the intersection of Northland Drive and 8 Mile Road into a four-way stop.
Located just north of Stanwood, the intersection is slated for conversion on Thursday, Oct. 22. Work includes installing new stop signs, pavement markings and adjustments to the overhead traffic lights. MDOT's initial estimation is the conversion will be completed in a day or two.
“Lane closures will be in effect throughout the day,” MDOT said. “Both directions of traffic will share one lane and alternate using traffic regulators.”
MDOT also said message boards will be in place to notify drivers of the change.
The intersection is near Big L Lumber, Ice Mountain, Mecosta Township Fire & Rescue and J & J Self Storage.
